In the first half of 2025, China's lighting product exports showed a combination of challenges and bright spots. According to data from the China Illuminating Engineering Society, the total export value reached approximately $25.8 billion, marking a 6% year - on - year decline.

In June alone, exports amounted to around $5 billion, a 7% increase from the previous month. The overall decrease in the first half can be ascribed to several factors. Fluctuations in the international market, such as trade frictions and tariff adjustments, have reduced the price competitiveness of Chinese lighting products.

Nevertheless, certain product segments witnessed growth. For instance, in the first six months, the export volume of LED light sources increased remarkably. The export volume of LED light source products reached about 7.4 billion pieces, a 37% year - on - year growth, accounting for 90% of the total export volume of general lighting light sources. The export volume of LED module products was approximately 4.2 billion pieces, surging 77% year - on - year.

In terms of export destinations, from January to June, the export value to the United States was about $5.2 billion, a 16% year - on - year drop. However, in June, the single - month export value to the US was around $1 billion. Although it was a 10% year - on - year decrease, the decline rate narrowed significantly, and there was a 42% increase from the previous month. During the same period, the total export value to the European Union was approximately $4.9 billion, showing a stable 4% year - on - year growth.

Industry insiders believe that despite the current challenges, with the continuous innovation of LED technology and the exploration of emerging markets, the Chinese lighting export industry still holds great potential for future growth.
